Aims of Module
To enable the student to analyse current issues and practice relating to a range of cancer treatments to ensure safe, effective and person centred clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critique the theoretical issues, policies and practices relevant to the safe, effective and person centred cancer treatment.
2 Appraise holistic management of individuals receiving a range of cancer treatments.
3 Critique contemporary cancer treatments and associated pharmacology.
4 Analyse factors to effectively support individuals, their significant others and the wider team during care management.
5 Justify a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of emerging management techniques and strategies for cancer care.

Indicative Module Content
National and local policy in health care relating to Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) administration; Health and safety and minimising harm; Principles of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment; Drug development, clinical trials and consent issues for adults, children and young people; Side effects of a range of cancer treatment and management of these; Minimising risks of side-effects of SACT and a range of other cancer treatments, including Radiotherapy, Surgery and Alternative therapies. Communication and support issues; Multi-professional approach; Self-care; Long term effects; Reflective practice; Survivorship; Spiritualism.

Module Delivery
This module will be delivered online using a blend of teaching methods. There will be a mix of virtual learning platforms for tutorials and key lectures as well as online interactive content.
