Aims of Module
To enable the student to demonstrate leadership skills and make evidence informed decisions in paramedic practice and incident management.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the skills and attributes required for effective leadership in hazardous environments.
2 Discuss the role of evidence informed decisions in incident management.
3 Implement and critically evaluate operational incident management in a simulated hazardous environment.
4 Critically apply the principles of evidence-informed decision making in a simulated hazardous environment.

Indicative Module Content
Decision making models; clinical reasoning; critical thinking; ethics of decision making; accountability; autonomy; legal and ethical issues; problem solving; delegation and prioritisation; clinical governance; risk assessment; change management theory; clinical and operational management; leadership skills; performance review; developing critical writing skills.

Module Delivery
This module will be delivered using a blended approach, with face-to-face and online delivery. The student will be expected to attend 5 days of face-to-face teaching at a designated site.
