Aims of Module
To enable the student to develop the knowledge and skills required to deal with individuals presenting with minor injuries.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Explore professional and legal issues relating to the role of the healthcare professional managing minor injuries.
2 Explain the pathophysiology of minor injuries.
3 Appraise the skills required in consultation, history taking and assessment of individuals presenting with minor injuries.
4 Examine the decision making processes involved in the diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries.
5 Analyse the evidence base underpinning the management of minor injuries.

Indicative Module Content
History taking and consultation; Assessment; Anatomy and physiology relating to commonly presenting minor injuries; Triage; Simulated practice; Clinical reasoning; Decision making; Wound management; Radiography; Telemedicine; Evidence based practice; Protocols; Professional and legal issues.

The module will be delivered online. Delivery will be achieved using a variety of methods including: Recorded lectures, podcast demonstrations and online learning activities.
