Aims of Module
To enable the student to further develop core essential skills underpinned by safe, effective and person and family centred approaches which contribute toward full achievement of the NMC competencies for entry to the professional register.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Analyse safe, effective and person/family centred approaches in the implementation of essential clinical and therapeutic skills.
2 Reflect upon personal skills, attributes and competence in responding to challenging, complex and emergency situations in practice.
3 Appraise underpinning knowledge relevant to a range of essential clinical and therapeutic skills.

Indicative Module Content
Students will develop their clinical and therapeutic skills with reference to the NMC Essential Skills Clusters - Care, compassion and communication; Organisational aspects of care; Infection, prevention and control; Nutrition and fluid management; and Medicines management in the context of lifespan. The clinical skills taught in the module will be updated each year in line with contemporary practice and communication with our Partners in Practice. The up-to-date list of skills will be available in the dynamic syllabus.
