Aims of Module
To equip the registered nurse, midwife and allied health professional with the knowledge and skills required to support learning, teaching and assessment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Evaluate their learning environment using the best evidence available.
2 Analyse theories and principles of learning, teaching and assessment.
3 Utilise best evidence to devise learning, teaching and assessment strategies which actively influence the support effective learning in practice.
4 Reflect on own continuing professional development needs in order to fulfil the role of an educator.

Learning styles and theories; Teaching styles; Teaching methods; Skills teaching; Teaching learners, patients, relatives, carers, qualified and unqualified staff; Evaluation of teaching; Self evaluation; Equity and diversity; Assessment of learning; Feedback; Lesson planning; Use of resources; Developing a conducive learning environment; Evidence based practice.
