Aims of Module
The module will facilitate the student to consolidate and enhance their knowledge of safe, effective and person centred practice relating to managing medication.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics for the major drug groups in your area of clinical practice.
2 Produce evidence of accuracy in calculating medications.
3 Interpret the significance of safe medication administration and adverse reactions/incidents from a safety perspective.
4 Discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities relating to medication concordance and promoting patient independence and self management.

Pharmacokinetics; Pharmacodynamics; Major drug groups; Polypharmacy; Safe Medication administration; Numeracy; Drug calculations; Concordance/adherence; Polypharmacy; Patient empowerment; Self-management.
