Aims of Module
To develop the student's knowledge and skills relating to wound care.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Examine the pathophysiological processes involved in the healing of wounds.
2 Discuss holistic wound assessment and the negotiation and planning of appropriate treatment option/s to manage them effectively.
3 Explore the contemporary evidence base and policy drivers relating to wound management.
4 Compare and contrast treatment option/s and reflect on the possible or actual outcomes.

Indicative Module Content
The individuals' experience of wounds; Physical and psychological aspects of planned and unplanned wounds; Pathophysiology; Wound healing process; Factors influencing wound healing process; Wound assessment; Wound classification; Acute wounds; Chronic wounds; Wound management products; Product selection; Evidence based practice/research skills; Holistic care; Pharmacological management; Professional and ethical issues relating to wound care; Reflection and practice development.

Module Delivery
This module will be delivered online via CampusMoodle. This includes discussion forums, videos, Panopto and Blackboard Collaborate activities.
