Aims of Module
Critically explore sciences and humanities within the field of Children and Young People's Nursing.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Apply knowledge and understanding of Children and Young People's specific pathophysiology.
2 Critique applied sciences and humanities in relation health and wellbeing for the child, young person and family.
3 Examine the impact of applied sciences and humanities in children and young people's nursing practice.
4 Demonstrate the use of pharmacogenetics.
5 Critically explore the role of genetics in Children and Young People's nursing.

Indicative Module Content
Pharmacogenetics; pharmacology, medicine optimisation, genetic profiling; maternal and infant screening; pharmacogenomics; transplantation; blood disorders; sex and gender; neonatology; immunology; childhood degenerative conditions; legal/ethics/humanities/sciences and professional perspective.
