Aims of Module
To enable the student to critically apply their knowledge of the sciences and humanities to meet the physical and emotional needs of the adult patient in a variety of settings.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Appraise adult specific pathophysiology.
2 Critique ethical implications specific to the care of the adult patient.
3 Apply knowledge and understanding of the use pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics.
4 Examine current research in relation to the care of the adult patient.
5 Explore applied sciences and humanities in relation to caring for the adult patient.

Indicative Module Content
Physiology, pathology, pathophysiology, immunology, biochemistry, biophysics and radiology, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, preventative medicine, pharmacogenetics, pharmacogenomics, technology, research and evidence, psychology, sociology, humanities, ethics, law/legislation; genomics, inflammation, degeneration, infection, neoplasia, law/ legislation.
