Aims of Module | |||

To prepare the midwife to return to midwifery practice and achieve registration with the NMC. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Discuss current health and social care policies relevant to midwifery practice, demonstrating an understanding of current organisation of care locally and nationally. |
2 | Evaluate the legal and ethical basis of midwifery practice. |
3 | Analyse personal effectiveness within the multidisciplinary team, evaluating the impact of professional development and competence affecting maternity care. |
4 | Demonstrate and apply knowledge of current issues, including teaching and learning, within midwifery practice. |
5 | Demonstrate achievement of clinical skills and competencies required for return to midwifery practice. |

Prerequisites for Module | Midwives undertaking this course must have previously completed an NMC approved Midwifery programme and be eligble to be registered as a midwife. |

ADDITIONAL NOTES |
---|
The practice based element of the module requires the completion of 450 hours of clinical practice over a 12 week period in order to comply with the NMC requirements for Post-registration education and practice (PREP). Part time clinical practice can be arranged on an individual basis. |
