Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
To enable the student to demonstrate safe, woman centred midwifery care which complies with NMC requirements for entry to the midwifery part of the professional register. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Demonstrate professional behaviour in maternity care. |
2 | Present evidence of independence as an effective communicator with women, their families, members of the multi-professional team and staff from other agencies where relevant. |
3 | Demonstrate achievement of NMC competencies required for entry to the midwifery part of the professional register. |
4 | Analyse a range of relevant knowledge underpinning midwifery care. |
5 | Deliver woman centred care which engages women, actively promotes normality and assesses risk within a range of contexts. |

ADDITIONAL NOTES |
---|
This is a clinical practice module. The student will undertake 37.5 hours per week in practice settings for normally 24 weeks (Full Time) or normally 34 weeks (Flexible Route). These will span a variety of midwifery practice placements. |
