Aims of Module
To enable the student to demonstrate a clear personal vision of caring, empowering, woman centred midwifery, which is effective, holistic and informed by evidence.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Analyse the role of the midwife as an effective communicator, role model and leader, working with women, families and colleagues in changing contexts.
2 Summarise the role of the midwife as lifelong learner and critique her role in empowering self and others.
3 Appraise clinical midwifery skills required for registration on the midwifery part of the NMC professional register.
4 Analyse the role of evidence informed practice within midwifery and maternity care.
