Aims of Module | |||

To enable the student to develop the application of theoretical knowledge and skills into the practice environment in accordance with HCPC standards, with an emphasis on medical and surgical emergencies. |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Demonstrate appropriate and effective assessment and initial patient management with emphasis on medical and surgical emergencies. |
2 | Demonstrate appropriate planning and professional, effective management with emphasis on medical and surgical emergencies. |
3 | Evidence personal and professional development with emphasis on paramedic assessment skills and interventions; medical and surgical clinical experiences. |
4 | Reflect on the placement experience to identify potential challenges to their resilience. |
5 | Apply evidence informed practice in relation to medical and surgical emergencies. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Clinical skills such as: patient assessment, communication, history taking, advanced cardiac management, cardiovascular assessment, ECG rhythm acquisition and interpretation, vascular access, advanced life support, therapeutics, referral pathways, acute medical and surgical presentations; evidence informed practice. |
