Aims of Module
To prepare the student to deliver holistic evidence based care to children and young people.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Outline the care interventions that can be used for a range of common health problems associated with children and young people.
2 Demonstrate understanding of a range of nursing skills to inform future learning opportunities in practice.
3 Utilise problem solving abilities in relation to children and young people's health and wellbeing.
4 Utilise best available evidence to inform holistic nursing care.

Indicative Module Content
Nutrition through childhood, primary survey and interventions e.g. airway managment in childhood; basic psychological interventions; School nursing interventions, challenges and issues in pain management for children and young people; Challenges and issues for communication with children and young people; Problem solving in relation to children and young people's nursing; Challenges and issues with regards to ethics, consent, care planning; Neonatal care; Learning disability; Wellbeing in relation to childhood.
