Aims of Module
To facilitate the student in developing the skills required to appraise relevant research and evidence for informed decision making in nursing.

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate a robust search strategy.
2 Distinguish between qualitative and quantitative research.
3 Appraise relevant research and evidence.
4 Apply a range of relevant research and evidence for informed decision making.

Indicative Module Content
Searching and appraising research and evidence; Applying evidence to practice; Policy and guidelines; Critical appraisal tools; Developing critical thinking and critical writing skills; Research methods and methodologies; Quality improvement; Service evaluation; Audit; Action research.
