To develop the student's knowledge and understanding of the processes, legislation and regulations governing health care. |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Demonstrate an applied understanding of the key principles of equality and diversity. |
2 | Define 'a vulnerable person' and the initial processes required to ensure their protection, including reporting mechanisms. |
3 | Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of key aspects of personal and organisational health and safety. |
4 | Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practice of reflection in identifying own learning needs in relation to academic skills and professional practice. |

HCPC Standards of Conduct and student guide; professional performance and ethics; equality and diversity; legal requirements; role of organisations; vulnerability and protection of adults and children; safeguarding; reporting mechanisms; conflict awareness; understanding personal risk; reducing risk; health and safety in the workplace; reporting mechanisms; relevant legislation; academic skills: library services, basic writing and study skills, reflection; information technology; social media; confidentiality. |

The module will be delivered using a blended approach of online, face-to-face methods and clinical practice. The student will be expected to attend for 3 days of face-to-face contact at a designated site. |
