Aims of Module
To introduce the student to key concepts providing the basis for therapeutic adult nursing care.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Outline the essential concepts of therapeutic adult nursing.
2 Identify key contemporary policies in relation to the care of the adult.
3 Describe key models and frameworks of care that guide therapeutic adult nursing.
4 Outline holistic approaches to the planning of care for the adult.

Essential concepts of therapeutic adult nursing; The nursing process; Models of adult nursing; Nursing in health and illness; Roper, Logan and Tierney; A model for living; A model for nursing; Activities of living; Lifespan; Dependance/independance continuum; Factors influencing activities of living; Assessment; Planning holistic care; Implementing care; Evaluating care; Self-care; Self-management; Current policy and legislative frameworks.
