Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Demonstrate an understanding of the key life sciences across the lifespan. |
2 | Explain the relationship between psychosocial sciences and life sciences across the lifespan. |
3 | Describe human development from conception to old age. |
4 | Outline basic pharmcological processes in the human body. |
5 | Explain the relationship between microbiology and nursing. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Pharmacology and how the body uses drugs across the lifespan; Microbiology in relation to infection control; Anatomy, physiology, embryology, genetics, growth and development, the mind e.g. consciousness, awareness, cognitions, perception, body mind relationships; Physical and psychological effects of pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal period; Ageing and the body; A range of psychological and sociological theories relevant to nursing. |
