Aims of Module
To enable the student to develop an understanding of improving and maintaining the mental, physical and behavioural health and well-being of people, families, communities and populations.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Outline wider determinants of health, illness and wellbeing across the lifespan.
2 Demonstrate the impact of early years and childhood experiences.
3 Describe current public health priorities.
4 Describe factors that lead to health inequalities.
5 Recognise the contribution of health literacy.

Determinants of health; Adverse childhood experiences; Public health role; Trends and challenges; International and national public health priorities and roles; World Health Organisation; Epidemiology; Communicable disease; Antimicrobial stewardship; Nutrition across the lifespan; Cultural influences on health; Human rights, key policies and legislation; Health literacy; Digital literacy and technology; eHealth; Mental health and wellbeing; Selfcare; Resilience; Suicide awareness; Learning disabilities; Autism spectrum.
