Aims of Module
To enable the student to develop key concepts, models and therapeutic approaches that form the basis of contemporary paramedic practice across the lifespan. To facilitate the student to develop their communication and clinical skills in preparation for practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Identify key models, frameworks, policies and drivers in relation to planning and delivery of contemporary care for health and wellbeing.
2 Recognise the importance of working within legal, ethical and professional frameworks.
3 Understand key paramedic, healthcare and medical terminology.
4 Discuss underpinning communication theories and knowledge required to effectively demonstrate a range of communication skills.
5 Demonstrate a range of clinical skills.

Current legislative frameworks; National strategies and policies; Care and therapeutic models; Informed consent; Person and family centred care; Assessment tools; Planning, implementation and evaluation of care; Documentation; Reflective practice; Professionalism and accountability; Ethics; Evidence Based Practice; Patient Safety; Technology Assisted Care; Trauma Informed Approach; Learning Disabilities; Dementia; Communication and relationship theories and management skills and clinical skills in line with HCPC Paramedic standards; Normal childbirth; Teamworking theories; Concepts of wellness and resilience; Human factors; Risk management.
