Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
This module will introduce discipline-specific legal skills and methods, provide an understanding of the UK's legal systems (English & Scots) in their international context, and enable students to develop an analytical and critical approach to the application of the law. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Describe and apply the sources of law and the structure of the UK legal systems in their international context. |
2 | Demonstrate an understanding of, and ability to use effectively, legal concepts and theories. |
3 | Analyse case law and legislation and apply critical judgement to determine the appropriate legal rules which flow from such sources. |
4 | Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of selected areas of private and public law and their application. |

Legal systems, institutions and sources of law; legal methods and skills; legal concepts; public and private law; civil and criminal law; contract law; law of delict/tort; and international law. |
