Aims of Module | |||

To enable students to explain and critically assess legal issues in respect of intellectual property rights in a changing global environment. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Evaluate the statutory, common law and international legal framework of as well as the philosophical justifications for intellectual property. |
2 | Critically analyse the impact of digital technology on intellectual property and the creator-owner-user triangle. |
3 | Contrast and compare national, regional and international IP regulation. |
4 | Appraise the influence of EU and international legal developments beyond the traditional intellectual property regime into new policy areas. |

IP law and policy in the UK and selected comparator jurisdictions; copyright & neighbouring rights; patents, trade marks; regional and international regulatory attempts. |
