Aims of Module
To develop knowledge and understanding of Immigration and Asylum Tribunal procedures and to develop professional and advocacy skills in relation to immigration cases.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Understand the key aspects of the Immigration Rules and some of the key Immigration Legislation.
2 Understand how to apply for bail in an immigration case and how to appeal an immigration decision.
3 Draft letters of representation on an immigration matter.
4 Conduct a Bail application and Appeal in the First Tier Tribunal ( Immigration and Asylum)

Indicative Module Content
Key aspects of the Immigration Rules and legislation; procedure for Appealing a decision of the Home Office in respect of an immigration matter and moving for Bail in such a matter;letters of Representation in an immigration matter, advising a client in immigration matters

MODULE PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTOR
Explanatory Text
The first grade represents Component 1 (coursework) and the second grade Component 2 (coursework). Components 1 and 2 are weighted equally. Component 3 is pass/fail competencies. Component 3 is a participation requirement with each student normally required to pass such online activities as identified in the module. Non-submission of either component 1 or 2 or non-completion of the competencies will result in an NS grade. An overall minimum grade D is required to pass the module. Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade: C1:C2:C3
