Aims of Module
To develop professional skills including interview and civil advocacy skills and a detailed practical knowledge of civil court procedure

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Take a precognition, identify the issues and advise the client in a civil court action
2 Draft a writ, adjustments, Rule 22 note and Record.
3 Prepare and conduct a debate
4 Prepare a specification of documents and amend pleadings
5 Prepare and conduct a proof

Indicative Module Content
Procedure in a Sheriff Court ordinary action, interview skills, precognitions, drafting skills, competency, relevancy and specification, Rule 22 notes, advocacy skills, debates, amendments and motions, specification of documents, preparing and conducting a proof, forum postings and quizzes

MODULE PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTOR
Explanatory Text
The first grade represents Component 1 (coursework) weighted at major (50%) and the second, Component 2 (coursework), weighted at minor (50%). Component 3 is pass/fail competencies. Component 3 is a participation requirement with each student normally required to pass such online activities as identified in the module. Non-submission of either component 1 or 2 or non-completion of the competencies will result in an NS grade. An overall minimum grade D is required to pass the module. Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade: C1:C2:C3
