Indicative Module Content
The Module will chart the development of environmental law as a subject area in the UK, and will touch on the philosophies underpinning environmental regulation. It will clearly explain how environmental law is administered in the UK, referring to the various bodies involved. An important element of the module will be to set out the current approach to enforcing environmental law in the UK, by regulators, the courts and the Office for Environmental Protection as well as Environmental Standards Scotland. Both criminal and civil approaches to dealing with breaches of environmental law will be explored. Later lectures will allow students to become familiar with the principal legal controls relating to a few key environmental sectors.

Module Delivery
The module is taught by the delivery of lectures which provide core module content. The module is also taught by seminars. This is to allow development of associated higher level skills through student centred learning.
