Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Recognise, analyse and discuss the key mechanisms for the ascertainment management of parties’ liability for the losses of others
2 Identify evaluate and critically assess key matters arising during the conclusion and/or termination of a construction contract, including common forms of dispute resolution such as adjudication

Indicative Module Content
This module covers the key legal issues which arise at the conclusion of construction projects and the routes to claims and their resolution. These include, completion of works, handover and defects liability periods, retention, suspension and termination, delay, damages, causation and liquidated damages; acceleration and introduction to dispute resolution in the UK construction industry. It also examines routes of recovery by third parties.
