Aims of Module | |||

To provide students with an understanding of law as it affects people in the community. To give them the experience of applying legal knowledge in real life settings. To encourage them to become reflective practitioners. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Research, analyse, and summarise succinctly and clearly a given legal topic; |
2 | Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with diverse audiences, through using appropriate language and by responding to their information needs; |
3 | Demonstrate the attitudes and skills required to engage and work constructively and sensitively in multicultural environments and in teams; |
4 | Exercise initiative, self-management and judgment in a professional and ethical manner, and reflect on their own personal and professional development. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Acquisition and application of skills: analysis, research, communication and teamwork. Assisting people to understand the impact of legal rules. Reflective assessment of personal development. |
Module Delivery |
---|
This is a lecture and practice-based reflective module. Lectures provide a structured framework and theoretical underpinning. Practice develops associated higher level skills through experiential learning. The practice will take the form of researching, explaining, and advising on, legal issues in either a law clinic or secondary school setting. |
