Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
To enable students to obtain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Roman Law as a part of the foundations of the Scottish legal tradition, with particular emphasis on the Roman influence on the law of property and obligations within the traditional civil law system. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Explain and analyse the fundamental institutions of Roman private law. |
2 | Critically evaluate Scotland's place in the European legal tradition. |
3 | Apply such traditional legal principles to contemporary aspects of Scots law. |
4 | Explain and apply the main principles of the Roman Law of persons, property, obligations and actions. |
