On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Evaluate the theoretical approaches to gender constructs, and the root causes of gender based violence. |
2 | Evaluate the distinction in law and policy between gender based violence and sexual offences. |
3 | Evaluate the intersectional issues which arise in this area. |
4 | Critique the legal framework in these areas against the theories and understanding of gender based violence explored in this module. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
The module will draw on the key theories which help to explain this issue in its widest context. This will provide a basis for understanding and critiquing the legal and policy responses to these crimes and the process for dealing with the offenders and victims of those crimes. |
