Aims of Module | |||

To provide students with an ability to identify core concepts of criminal liability and critique specific offences in Scots criminal law. |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Identify key elements of criminal liability and applicable defences. |
2 | Appraise substantive crimes and discuss the relationship between them and the key elements above. |
3 | Identify and solve problems in respect of specific offences. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Actus reus and mens rea of crimes; art and part, and inchoate liability; defences and mitigating pleas; murder, culpable homicide and assault; sexual offences; breach of the peace and drugs; theft and offences against property. |
