Aims of Module
The aims of this module are to examine and evaluate the fundamental principles and processes of the EU legal order, coupled with scrutiny of EU law legacy in the UK and Scotland

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Understand the nature and sources of European Union Law as well as the EU's legislative processes, and the relationship between EU Law and Member State law
2 Examine the political and judicial institutions of the EU, including CJEU jurisdiction
3 Evaluate the constitutional principles of the EU legal order
4 Examine the principles of the EU internal market
5 Understand EU law legacy in the UK and Scotland, including Retained EU Law and Withdrawal legislation

Indicative Module Content
Institutional structure of the EU; sources of EU law; relationship between EU law and national law; constitutional principles of the EU; principles of the EU internal market; EU law legacy in the UK and Scotland; Retained EU Law; EU-UK withdrawal legislation and measures.

Module Delivery
This is a lecture and tutorial based module. Lectures provide core module content. Tutorials develop associated higher level skills through student centred learning.
