Aims of Module | |||

This module aims to familiarise the student with the nature and relevance of human rights in the United Kingdom and Scotland. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Outline the development of human rights. |
2 | Evaluate the impact of the UK human rights legislation and the problems therewith. |
3 | Understand individual human rights and the applicability thereof on specific subject matter including the criminal law, terrorism and prisoners. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Historical background of human rights, UK human rights legislation, the effect of human rights law on criminal justice, terrorism and the prison population. |

This is a lecture and tutorial based module. Lectures provide core module content. Tutorials develop associated higher level skills through student centred learning. |
