Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Discuss the detail of the various sources of law in Scotland. |
2 | Explain the jurisdiction and functions of the civil and criminal court system and the roles of persons working in the legal profession. |
3 | Evaluate the predominant law making bodies which affect the Scottish legal system at Scottish and UK levels and externally, such as the ECHR. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
History of the Scottish Legal System; Sources of Law in Scotland; civil and criminal court structure; legal personnel and the legal profession; Scotland and Devolution; Scotland and Human Rights; Legal aspects of Brexit; and impact of the aforementioned on sustainability. |
