Aims of Module
To develop an awareness of appropriate research methodologies and methods and to develop competence in the selection, critical analysis and application of research methods appropriate to a specific research proposal.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Indicative Module Content
Development of research questions/hypotheses, literature searching, ethical considerations, explanation building, making sense of method, qualitatiive and quantitative research methods, statistics, use of data handling and analysis software, presentation skills, project management, research governance.

| Mode of Delivery
This module will be delivered in a one week block. Delivery will be made up of a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops during the teaching week.

| Component 2 is an individual oral presentation and engagement with an online discussion forum. This is assessed on a pass/fail basis only.
Component 1 is a 5,000 word written report in a selected topic area.
