Aims of Module | |||

To enable students to develop a critical understanding of project management in health and social care to equip them with the skills for management of future projects. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Develop a critical understanding of the steps and skills involved in project management in a health and social care context. |
2 | Critically discuss and evaluate the role of project management techniques in improving processes and services in health and social care. |
3 | Critically examine methods to optimise communication amongst various stakeholders to manage potential conflict and challenges to enable successful outcomes. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Planning processes, scope management and planning methodologies; project life cycle and its underpinning role in monitoring project progress; network analysis, critical path management; processes of initiation and definition; objective setting; identifying stakeholders; assessing strategies for delivering projects on budget and within scope; importance of people, communication and resources; structures and feedback paths through and across organisations; risk assessment; project evaluation and reporting; resource allocation; monitoring and control methods; an introduction to Agile and Prince II. methodologies. |
