Aims of Module
To enable students to develop a critical understanding of project management in health and social care to equip them with the skills for management of future projects.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Develop a critical understanding of the steps and skills involved in project management in a health and social care context.
2 Critically discuss and evaluate the role of project management techniques in improving processes and services in health and social care.
3 Critically examine methods to optimise communication amongst various stakeholders to manage potential conflict and challenges to enable successful outcomes.

Indicative Module Content
Planning processes, scope management and planning methodologies; project life cycle and its underpinning role in monitoring project progress; network analysis, critical path management; processes of initiation and definition; objective setting; identifying stakeholders; assessing strategies for delivering projects on budget and within scope; importance of people, communication and resources; structures and feedback paths through and across organisations; risk assessment; project evaluation and reporting; resource allocation; monitoring and control methods; an introduction to Agile and Prince II. methodologies.
