Aims of Module
This module aims to explore the role that epidemiology and research methods have in providing an evidence base for exercise, health and wellbeing activities and interventions.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically discuss the principles, methods and application of epidemiology in relation to exercise, health and wellbeing.
2 Critically discuss and synthesise exercise, health and wellbeing evidence and research.
3 Critically analyse and justify appropriate methods of assessing health, exercise and wellbeing activities.
4 Critically appraise research methodology and methods appropriate in the field of exercise and wellness.

Indicative Module Content
Principles and methods of epidemiology; epidemiology in exercise, health and wellbeing practice; quantitative research methods; qualitative research methods; validity; reliability; trustworthiness; research design; critical appraisal and synthesis of evidence; analysing evidence.
