The module aims to develop a critical and applied understanding of the current recommendations and guidelines regarding exercise and physical activity for health to further develop the skills required to plan, deliver and evaluate physical activity or exercise programmes. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Reflect on and critically evaluate the current physical activity/exercise recommendations and guidelines associated with targeted populations. |
2 | Evaluate the core skills required for safe and effective exercise and Wellness Coaching planning and delivery for targeted populations. |
3 | Discuss and justify the selection and adaptation of different physical activity/exercise programmes for targeted populations. |
4 | Design and justify a Wellness Coaching intervention for a targeted population. |

International and national physical activity and exercise guidelines; rehabilitation recommendations; exercise for preventative care recommendations; pathways to physical activity and exercise; development of interventions; evaluation of interventions; the role of wellness coaching in exercise delivery; models of coaching and for coaching; coaching pedagogy; reflective practice. |
