Aims of Module
The aim of this module is to allow students to develop a critical understanding of the analysis of sporting performance through feedback-based technologies and how data is measured, analysed and effectively presented to decision makers in sport.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 From relevant literature, select and critically discuss appropriate performance indicators for specific elements of sporting performance.
2 Analyse sports performance through feedback-based technologies and critically analyse the data produced.
3 Effectively present the findings to inform decision making in sport.
4 Critically evaluate the validity of notational analysis of sporting performance.

Indicative Module Content
Sport-specific notational systems; computerised notational analysis; notation in individual sports; notation in team sports; augmented feedback through video-based technologies; modelling of competitive sport; analysis of structures of sports informing performance indicators; flowcharts and presentation models of sports performance; reliability and validity of notational data; data processing; probability analysis; literature searching; critical evaluation of literature.
