Aims of Module
To discuss and debate the key principles of quality improvement. This programme will enable students to develop theoretical knowledge of quality improvement approaches, advance critical thinking and to utilise and apply such approaches within individual professional areas of practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically examine the current underpinning strategic, professional and social drivers influencing quality improvement.
2 Critically evaluate the key principles and concepts of quality improvement.
3 Critically evaluate the impact of a range of quality improvement methods within an area of practice.
4 Critically examine the essential professional skills to influence and lead quality improvement in practice.

Indicative Module Content
The role of Quality Improvement. Quality improvement principles, approaches and frameworks. Methodologies for implementing continuous improvement. Process and system tools and techniques required in achieving continuous quality improvement.

Part time distance learning: directed study supported by tutorials, workshops and seminars delivered on-line.
