Aims of Module
Critically examine global health issues, the occurrence and distribution of both communicable and non communicable diseases giving consideration to environmental and ecological issues and health security.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically examine global public health issue, patterns and transitions.
2 Analyse primary, secondary and tertiary prevention programmes and their implications for health security.
3 Critically appraise the assessment and communication of risk; incident management; emergency planning and discuss the legal responsibilities towards the global public health issue
4 Discuss health care systems and their capacity to promote health

Indicative Module Content
Global health systems; health equity; strategies to influence healthy public policy; ethical issues; social determinants of health; global health; globalization; human rights and humanitarian aid; global ecology; emerging health challenges; health promoting systems; climate change; inequalities; political challenges; digital health; digital inequalities.
