Aims of Module
The aim of this module is to provide the student with the ability to analyse emerging and advancing practice in radiography and critically evaluate the impact on service provision and the profession.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Critically evaluate emerging and advancing practice in radiography in the context of the variety of service formats that may be encountered.

Critically analyse and evaluate the impact of professional and healthcare policy on the role of the radiographer.

Discuss the ethical, legal and professional implications of advancing practice in radiography.

Critically evaluate the impact of advancing practice on the health service, service users and the radiography professional.

Indicative Module Content
The dynamic nature of radiography and continual modernisation of the profession will be reflected in the content of this module. The team delivering the module will consider on an annual basis, pertinent topics to be included. These will be set in the context of health policy imperatives and the development of professional practice. Guidance on such topics will be sought from a range of sources e.g. research,professional and healthcare policy, peer reviewed scientific journals, national reports and professional body publications.
| Delivery of the module will take into account the need to ensure that development of a radiographic knowledge base is couched in the context of the codes of conduct and ethics set out by the Health Professions Council and the College of Radiographers.

Mode of Delivery
This module is taught using introductory key note sessions in the form of lectures or electronic delivery. These will be associated with student led group work and student led seminars. Shared sessions will be facilitated with student groups from other professional disciplines within the School. The principles of reflective practice and the practical application of these will be encouraged and facilitated through the module delivery strategy.
