Aims of Module

To enable the student to gain comprehensive knowledge and skills in critique of radiographic anatomy.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Critically review the anatomical appearances of the appendicular and axial skeleton in relation to planar and cross sectional radiographic images.
2. Critically analyse the anatomical appearances of the visceral body systems in relation to planar and cross sectional radiographic images.
3. Discuss the radiographic appearance, location, vertebral levels and anatomical relationships of major organs, vessels and structures.
4. Critically assimilate the relationship between radiogaphic surface markings and internal anatomy.

Skeletal anatomy
Gross anatomy and anatomical locations of major organs and structures

Cross sectional anatomy
Vertebral levels
Surface anatomy
Vessels and pathways
Conventional film and digital images

Mode of Delivery

Lectures, image critical appraisal workshops and online learning activities including a series of interprofessional sessions in which students will learn alongside other health professionals.
The principles of reflective practice and the practical application of these will be encouraged and facilitated through the module delivery strategy.
