Indicative Module Content
This practice-based module will include experiential learning involving practice with supervision appropriate to the level of training, professional discussion and reflective activities which involve linking theory with practice. This will include orientation to the department and observation of the clinical practices in ward, contrast and theatre imaging. The student will also have opportunities to self-assess radiographic skills and to plan and organise involvement in the department. Attendance at appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings will be encouraged and the student will participate as member of that team, recognising the contribution of all participants. The student will be given the opportunity to reflect on his/her progress,to explore personal strengths and to implement strategies to overcome weakness.
| The student will be expected to maintain awareness of local rules required to undertake safe radiographic practice, in adherence with the Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR 1999) and the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR[ME]R 2000). The student will receive initial training and be aware of, and practice at all times, in accordance with standard infection control precautions to minimise the risks of healthcare associated infection. Delivery of the module will take into account the need to ensure that aspects of practice and the development of a radiographic skills base is couched in the context of the codes of conduct and ethics set out by the Health Professions Council and the College of Radiographers.
