Aims of Module
To develop independence in the application of the research process and to integrate the use of the research process within clinical practice.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Independently develop and execute a detailed research or evidence based practice study in a specific area relevant to professional practice.

Gather, analyse and critically evaluate data (primary or secondary).

From available data synthesis arguments to inform professional practice.

4. |
Present data in a professionally appropriate format for dissemination.

Indicative Module Content
Synthesis and integration of critical analysis of literature; critical discrimination between, and reasoned choice of, different research methodologies for different purposes; ethical and research goverenance permissions; data collection and analysis, reduction and data analysis and dissemination of findings.

Mode of Delivery
Problem solving tutorials. Each student will be allocated a project supervisor from whom (s)he will receive tutorial support and relevant advice. The meetings will be initiated by the student and the supervisor will act as a facilitator.
