Aims of Module
This module aims to equip the student with the knowledge and understanding to underpin clinical decision making in assessment of patients with musculoskeletal minor injuries in an accident and emergency environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Explore the spectrum of mechanisms of injury and pathophysiology of musculoskeletal minor injury.
2 Critically evaluate the mechanisms for patient consultation and assessment of musculoskeletal minor injury in an accident and emergency environment.

Mechanisms of musculoskeletal injury Principles of Triage and patient consultation Clinical assessment of minor injuries Use of standardised assessment tools Principles of Red Dot and Commenting Clinical management of minor injuries

Module Requirements
Prerequisites for Module BSc(Hons) or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography, Nursing or a relevant Allied Health Profession. Plus a minimum of 3 years experience in imaging or treatment of minor injuries.
Corequisites for module None.
