Aims of Module
To enable students to acquire advanced skills and strategies in the assessment and management of upper quadrant musculoskeletal dysfunction using a problem-solving approach. To enable students to reflect on the management of musculoskeletal dysfunction using critical, evaluative, and clinical reasoning skills. To justify choice of treatment within an evidenced-based framework.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1. |
Critically discuss the theoretical foundation for the examination, assessment and treatment strategies appropriate to the management of upper quadrant musculoskeletal dysfunction
|
2. |
Critically examine the current knowledge and evidence relating to the pathological processes involved in the development of upper quadrant musculoskeletal dysfunction
|
3. |
Critically discuss the limitations of relevant interventions and identify the role of additional investigations
|
4. |
Critically evaluate their own practice with reference to the current evidence relating to upper quadrant musculoskeletal dysfunction
|
5. |
Demonstrate enhanced clinical reasoning skills through analysis and self-reflection with reference to the current evidence-base and national and professional guidelines
|
