Aims of Module
To produce a research report based on a supervised self directed research project.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Independently design and execute a detailed research or evidence based practice study in a specific area relevant to professional practice.
2 Critically evaluate (primary or secondary) data relevant to practice.
3 Synthesise evidence based arguments to inform practice.
4 Critically evaluate the ethical implications of conducting a research or evidence based practice study.

Indicative Module Content
The research process; theory development; application of appropriate research tools; systematic review; data collection and analysis; critical engagement with literature; ethics and ethical implications; methods of enquiry; reporting of findings and overall project as a research report.

Module Delivery
Delivery method will vary depending on study route. Full time on campus: directed study supported by tutorials, workshops and supervision time delivered on-line or on-campus. Part time distance learning: directed study supported by tutorials, workshops and supervision time delivered on-line.
