Aims of Module

To enable students to develop the ability to plan, implement and evaluate health improvement and health promotion programmes ensuring sustainability is addressed.


Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Justify the most appropriate framework for planning health promotion and health improvement programmes.
2. Discuss the implications of short termism in the context of health promotion and health improvement.
3. Critically analyse the range and roles of stakeholders in the planning of health promotion and health improvement programmes.
4. Determine the skills necessary to implement and evaluate a health promotion programme.

Sustainability; stakeholder roles; outcome measures; short termism versus long termism; resource management; leadership development; planning frameworks; approaches to governance; needs assessment; approaches to evaluation; outcome measures and indicators; strategic working and implementation.
