Aims of Module
To develop independence in the application of the audit and evaluation of the audit process and to integrate findings into the development of a research proposal.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the findings from an audit or service evaluation undertaken in clinical practice to inform a research question.
2 Systematically gather, synthesise and critique relevant research literature to develop and support a well defined research question.
3 Select appropriate research methods.
4 Critically evaluate the ethical implications of conducting a research study.
5 Critically discuss the design, planning and management of the project to ensure effective and successful completion.

Indicative Module Content
Audit, service evaluation, critical discrimination between and reasoned choice of different research methodologies for different purposes, data analysis and evaluation, ethical and research governance permissions, ethical issues in research.
