Aims of Module
To enable the student to develop knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of radiographers undertaking reporting roles and the skills required to report images of the skeleton, chest and abdomen.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Review the principles and processes involved in the production of a radiographic report.
2 Critically evaluate musculoskeletal, chest and abdominal images and provide a radiographic opinion of normal and abnormal appearances.
3 Critically appraise the ethical, legal and professional principles of image interpretation in radiology.
4 Critically assess the political, social and theoretical aspects of advancing practice for radiographer reporting.

Indicative Module Content
Principles of reporting in radiography. Pattern recognition. Normal, abnormal and variant image appearances in plain radiography of the skeleton, chest (non-trauma) and abdomen. Terminology to enable the production of a radiographer report. Calculating sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy. Ethical, professional and medico-legal implications of radiographer reporting. Professional and healthcare policy. Legislation. Governance and standard setting.

Module Delivery
Blended delivery comprising on campus and online learning and engagement. This will include Workshops, Tutorials, Keynote Lectures, Digital Learning Resources.
